This weekend, for various reasons, i’m moving back to Illinois. (i hate packing) However, thanks to the new internet era, my digital contact info will be unchanged.
As before, you can find infrequently added posts by me at this web address.
UPDATE:
Well, i’m safely here, with all my belongings in cardboard boxes.
Jeff tagged me, and this time i’m gonna answer before everyone else who i could tag has already been tagged by someone else. A number of Jeff’s answers are identical or similar to mine, some of which i wouldn’t have thought of.
- My Childhood Ambition: To be a Zoologist, Paleontologist, Author, and later a video-game designer.
- My Fondest Memory: None stands head-and-shoulders above the others. But my time spend on Saipan came to mind first. The whole tropical island thing is as gorgeous as it looks in pictures. Or perhaps a road-trip.
- My Favorite Retreat: Other fictional worlds.
- My Wildest Dream: Founding a new school of art of philosophy or art would be neat. Designing the first video-game deemed to be on par with a work of literature. Discovering a lost civilization. Making first contact with a sapient alien race, or first setting foot on a living alien world. Having a family, with kids that go on do whichever of my wildest dreams i haven’t completed. I’ve always been bad at answering the question, “What do you want for Christmas?”"A new Mac Pro with 30in LCD!” is seldom an answer people want to hear, and i have a hard time keeping a mental list of smaller desired items.
This year i’m doing it right:

Well, i’ve been out of blog mode for a while. Since my last post i’ve been “memed” 4 times. It’s time to respond. Jeff Gray, started this meme, sharing how much you’ve traveled.

create your own visited country map
On the national map, please notice the 2 tiny dots near Japan, which i had to add by hand: Guam and Saipan. I really liked Siapan, even though the national food is Spam—seriously. Also i chose to be scrupulous and not count Japan, since i never left the airport terminal.
My total: 5 countries or 2% (though Siapan and Guam are under US administration)

Some observations about my stateside travel. On the east coast, i find the landscape of states further north almost universally more attractive than states to the south. Besides the ocean, Florida IMHO had the most bland and depressing landscape i’ve ever seen. The further away you get the better things look. In general i prefer the “personality” of the West half of our nation, and will probably end up over there eventually.
My total: 23 states or 45%
Now i’m supposed to chose 5 bloggers to pass this on to. Unfortunately i can’t find that many who haven’t already posted a travel meme.

I’ve got a new version of my sister’s site up and running — just in time for her show this Sunday. It now includes a lot more of her newer work, though i hope to get even more of her newer content up in the next few days. It still needs some text content, but people mostly want to see the pictures, so here it is.

Tonight i put togther this invitation for my sister’s big art show. (with her over-my-shoulder input) I’m proud of it. The typeface is Avignon. Naturally the image is from her show. Click it to see the whole thing.
You can preview some of the stuff that will be in the show at her under-construction website. Continue reading ‘Annalisa’s Senior Art Exibition’
One of the things i like about the iPod, are the rare moments when i’m out and about, and suddenly there’s a congruity between the world outside, my mood, and the music playing in my head. The music ceases to be merely background, and suddenly becomes theme music— orchestrated to that moment in my life.

Tonight that happened. I put in some hours rather late, and when i left, i found it was raining outside. I like rain, but cannot deny that a rainy night in an empty parking lot has a desolate feel. Then the a melancholy song came up over the ear buds. It intesified the flavor of the moment, as i stood under the overhang watching the rain. When the song was over i walked home. But i’ll probably remember those few minutes of rain longer than most other rainy night i’ve seen.
My only computer (a laptop) is loosing battery charge inspite of the fact that it’s plugged in. I may be scarce in the blogosphere and email until i get this fixed.
admiring the look and content of Jeff Gray’s blog, and finding out that WordPress is much more user friendly than other free or cheap solutions, i’m giving up on the idea of learning GoLive or HTML to put together a decent website. I choose the path of the blog/gallery content in the knowledge that i can tweak the CSS styles. Continue reading ‘I can no longer Resist the Siren call of Blogging’
